The present of catechin polyphenols, particularly epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG) makes green Tea special. The present of EGCG refrain the growth of cancer cells; it destroys the cancer cells without damaging the health tissues. EGCG is the substance which reduces the level of cholesterol.

Green tea is good for so much more than just health benefits though. I feel like it would also be hard to keep up consistently drinking a lot of green tea if you burn your leaves with boiling water... maybe it's just me. But the art of tea appreciation and preparation is a very ancient art, and I think it can be really good for mental health as well as physical health. Taking time out of my day to sit quietly and prepare tea and enjoy it gives me some quiet time to think; and quiet time to oneself is definitely necessary to good spiritual health.
